Together, we’re turning compassion into action.

We stand for justice and put love into action.

Inspiration

Inspired by The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Beloved Community, the Community Campaign for Love turns compassion into action.

It starts with a dedicated team focused on a three-step process. First, through the lens of racial equity and social justice, we identify the most pressing needs in our community. Then, select the objectives with the greatest opportunity to build relationships and make the most positive impact. Finally, activate all the right people, partners, talent and resources necessary to get long-term solutions working in the community.

Love. Works.

Compassion into Action

Several times a year, the Community Campaign for Love selects a local, non-profit organization to support through its “Acts of Love.” The campaign offers its support to those organizations through financial contributions and other gifts provided by individuals who belong to the groups represented on InterFaith Works’ Round Table of Faith Leaders and other members of the local community.

Recipient Organizations:

  1. Rise Above Poverty
  2. Community Garden @ Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ
  3. Onondaga Nation Farm
  4. Pantry Partners Program

Notable contributions to the campaign from:

  • Park Outdoor Advertising (billboard space)
  • MediaMarCon (billboard design/production)
  • Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (community garden promotion)
  • The Gifford Foundation (community garden)
  • Mission Hope Community (chicken coop)
  • We Build We Grow (community garden)

Ways to Help

The Community Campaign for Love is constantly evolving. However, we offer the following suggestions on ways you can show love and support right now to those who may have immediate needs:

Families

  • Offer to pick up items at the grocery store

  • Purchase a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share or food delivery service for families in need

  • Ask if a facemask is needed

  • Call on the telephone

  • Send a card

  • Provide a meal (delivery, pick up, gift card)

  • Offer to help with yard work – buy and plant flowers or vegetables

Human Service Agencies

Check with a human service agency to see if there are specific client or agency needs, e.g., InterFaith Works is providing activity baskets for senior adults and children, as well as raising funds to purchase technology that will allow refugee children to access online schoolwork so they don’t fall behind

Human Services Professionals (including, but not limited to, mental health therapists, case workers, social workers, faith leaders, others)

  • Recognize on social media

  • Write a thank you card

  • Send a thank you gift, e.g., flowers, gift certificate

Senior Adults

  • Offer to pick up items at the grocery store

  • Ask if a facemask is needed

  • Call on the telephone
