“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view –
until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” – To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee

In 2016, InterFaith Works will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its founding. Affirming the dignity of each person and every faith community and creating relationships of understanding and trust are at the heart of the agency’s mission. At its very foundation, InterFaith Works strives to help people develop empathy – the ability to listen, really listen, to another person’s story and to journey with them through their fear, their courage, their despair and their hope for the future.

It seems fitting during this anniversary year that we honor those whose radical empathy has led to a better life for thousands of our neighbors. Whether through business, volunteerism or faith, our honorees have worked tirelessly for a just community where all people receive equitable treatment, share in community resources, and whose human rights are supported and protected.
